2017 USARA Regional Qualifier

​Join us for an epic journey through the rocky valleys and rugged bluffs of the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. This year we're offering both a 24-hour race and a beginner friendly 8-hour race. Both races are open to 2, 3, & 4-person coed and open division teams.  Soloists will be allowed in the 8-hour race only. The No Sleep Adventure is fully sanctioned by the United States Adventure Racing Association, and the 24-hour race is a regional qualifier for the 2017 USARA National Championships. Racers will take in spectacular views in some of  Illinois' most remote terrain. Teams will trek, mountain bike and paddle, and 24-hour teams will complete ropes challenges along the way. Entry fee includes great race swag, post-race meals, maps, canoe rental, professional race management and unique awards.

  • Normal Registration March 1 - April 30: $100
  • Late Registration May 1 - June 2: $110

24-Hour Race

  • Normal Registration March 1 - April 30: $200
  • Late Registration May 1 - June 2: $225


Note: If you are not a USARA member, you will need to purchase a 1-day membership for $8 during check-in. USARA members must present a current USARA membership card at check-in. All registration fees are non-refundable.

Award Divisions:

  • 4-person coed
  • 4-person open (all female or all male)
  • 3-person coed
  • 3-person open (all female or all male)

  • 2-person open (all female or all male)
  • Solo male (8-hour only)
  • Solo female (8-hour only)


Awards will be given for divisions with five or more teams. Additionally, the first place team in the combined 3-person and 4-person coed divisions (24-hour only) will receive USARA regional champion jackets along with a $400 regional qualifier sponsorship applied towards entry into 2017 USARA Adventure Race National Championship in September.

USARA Sanctioning:
The No Sleep Adventure 24 & 8-hour race is sanctioned by the United States Adventure
Racing Association (USARA) and the 24-hour race is a regional qualifier for the USARA
National Championship held this year in September. The top four combined 3-person
​and 4-person coed teams and the top 4 open (all female or all male) teams will receive
an invitation to the 2017 USARA Adventure Race National Championship.
Additionally, the top placing team in the combined 3 and 4-person elite coed divisions
​will receive USARA regional champion jackets, along with a $400 regional qualifier sponsorship applied toward entry into the 2017 USARA National Championship. More details can be found on the USARA site at:

Lodging:
Primitive Camping will be available at the Lake Glendale Recreation Area-Duck Bay group area@$12/night (Start/Finish location) or in Oakpoint Campground (Primitive@$12/night & Electric sites@$22/night). The Start/Finish will also serve as a Transition Area for portions of the race.  All campsites in Oakpoint campground are on a first come basis-NO reservations. All camping will have access to the plush heated shower house in Oakpoint campground.  Firewood & Ice are available from the  camphost in Oakpoint Campground.
